Was lucky enough to spend three days in Death Valley with Mike and Steve.
This is the Mesquite Dunes in Death Valley.

In May this year, I met this man at Venice Beach. He was teaching students the art of Poi. We talked a bit and I took a few photos. He was an interesting guy and even in that short amount of time, it was quite apparent that he was a creative spirit.
When I got home, I discovered that he was also a photographer and the brother of actor, Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Daniel passed way on October 4. I am certain he will be missed.

Second stop of the day. A short hike in... wish I was here for sunrise today. This would have been spectacular.
.:
Long day today... up at 4AM and back in the room at 9PM. Here's the first stop of the morning... Silver Lake.
.:
I was invited to join the other photographers on Weekly Shot so I reprocessed this one for the monochrome theme.

Interesting man. Was at the beach teaching students the art of Poi. He gave me a card for the Flow Temple. Dan didn't mention he was a photographer, but he has some nice work.

This is along the Wildrose Canyon road. I don't have a clue what these are.
I think that's Telescope Peak in the background.

Some co-workers have been playing in a flag football league for a few months. Now that my class schedule is a little different (and the added benefit of daylight savings time), I got a chance to take some photos.
Football is difficult to shoot.

I was surfing through Senator Boxer's site and saw an image that looked familiar. It does, because it's mine. Here is the original.
It's all creative commons, so that's really not an issue. I do find it interesting that the site states, "Information presented on this site is considered public information, is held under a creative commons license, and may be distributed or copied unless otherwise specified. Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credits is requested."
...and yet they didn't offer the same credit to me, the photographer.
I've sent an email to the Senator's office. See where it goes from here. I'm half expecting they'll just remove it to save themselves the hassle. That would be a shame. On the one hand, I'm delighted that it's there, but I'm also disappointed that there's no attribution.

Every other Thursday night, some local musicians put on a sort of open mic performance. Each artist does two songs and then the next artist performs. Really a cool idea. They're calling it "Acoustic Expressions".
Steve Mendenhall set up a couple of SB-800s stage left and right, both grided. There's also a snooted SB-800 that's lighting the hair. For this, I borrowed Steve's SU-800 commander.

Steve and I got an early start for a sunrise in the Alabama Hills. Cold enough to make my face and fingers hurt. Probably 20ish.
Shot this one with the G11, just before leaving.
